League of Legends is a very popular video game that belongs to the multiplayer online battle arena genre. It is a free to play game developed and published by Riot Games. It was released in 2009, and by 2012, it was already the most played computer game in Europe and North America. Since 2014, the game had over 67 million players.

In League of Legends, each player takes the role of a summoner that has control over characters referred to as champions. These champions, each with a set of unique abilities, fight champions of other teams or players. Champions can improve strength as they gain experience and items. A champion's level is upgraded when it gets to kill another champion from an opposing team.

The game has different modes - Twisted Treeline, Summoner's Rift, Howling Abyss, and Crystal Scar. At the beginning of each match, a player is given minimal amount of gold. But players can use a number of ways to earn more gold, such as killing monsters and minions, assisting to kill or killing opposing player characters, or destroying towers and similar structures. Over time, the amount of gold will be higher even if a player just spends time passively.

As players or the summoners play in different matches using a certain account, they gain experience points as well as Influence Points. Players start at level one and as they gain experience, they can reach the highest level which is 30. Various perks are available to players at higher levels. These include new maps, new abilities and other game modes.

As players progress to higher levels, they get a chance to unlock Rune which may be significant in eSports League of Legends betting. Runes has the following categories: Seals, Glyphs, Marks and Quintessences. Runes can be used to give small bonuses during battle to summoner's champions.

Although eSports League of Legends is a free game, players may opt to purchase if they want some upgrades in the appearance of their champions, accelerators and totems. If players are eager to have more Influence Points and Riot Points earlier in the game, they may also buy these using real money.
